Financial Aid: Adding External Resources

Overview

Students often have outside resources to assist with educational costs. Students have the ability to enter ‘external resources’ on the portal on a payment period or academic year basis, if the feature is configured in Institution Setup > Portal > Financial Aid called Resources Settings (see Student Experience Portal Data Elements for configuration options,). Student entries of external resources will be considered in packaging of Title IV and other aid and displayed within Regent Award under Award > Resources. In addition, an Export Student Resources Process and downloadable output (.csv) are available for reporting purposes.

If the student already has resources in Regent Award and the Adding External Resources functionality is configured, the existing resources will display on the portal along with the option to view details (i.e. payment period amounts). Students will not be able to edit existing resources, but the option to add new resources will be available.

When the student selects ‘Add New’, they are required to enter a Resource Name and select from a dropdown menu for Source and Type. Also, the ‘Amount Per’ field allows for an academic year or term based selection.

Once the newly added Resource is saved, the student is repackaged, the Resource is added to Regent Award and an Activity log entry is created.

If users want to review Resources in a report format, a Export Student Resources process is available. Users will select specific parameters for the output.

Output is downloadable (.csv) on the process log.
