Student Batch Load (SBL) - Definition

Synopsis: SBL

Importing student information into Regent Award where it will be used to calculate Financial Aid eligibility. The term SBL will used in two different manners. One, to refer to a Regent Award import process and two, to refer to the file that is imported during this process.

The SBL Process

Regent Award will import a student’s personal and enrollment information through a file exported from an educational institution’s Admission and Registration system. This Admission and Registration system is also referred to as a  Student Information System, or SIS.  Personal information, such as student’s name, address, and SS# are contained in the SIS. It also contains a student’s enrollment information such as their program of study, and classes in which they are enrolled. Regent Award needs the personal data provided by the SIS to identify individual students across all systems. The enrollment data will be used by Regent Award to establish financial aid eligibility.

The SIS shares this data with Regent Award, through an .xml file type (Fig. 1a), in a process referred to as Student Batch Load (SBL). SBL files can be setup to automatically import into Regent Award or can be manually imported within Regent Award under the Processes menu.
