Important RemindersImportant Reminders

  • The Student Experience portal is supported in Firefox, Chrome, Edge, and Safari, (which are considered "evergreen browsers" - browsers that are automatically updated to future versions, rather than being updated by the distribution of new versions from the manufacturer, as was the case with older browsers.)
  • When creating an account, you will need to use a real email address in order to receive the account validation email that allows you to complete user registration. You can use a Gmail account to create multiple Student Experience accounts with a single email address.  See https://www.thewindowsclub.com/gmail-address-tricks.
  • Guidance on how to configure the Student Experience environment is located here. Remember that you'll need to select "Publish Portal Configurations" in order to see your configuration changes in your Student Experience QA environment.
  • There are new permissions that enable access to the new portal configurations and the ability to publish those configurations, which you'll need to enable:
    • Under Permissions → "Institutions" → "Institution Permissions" → "Institution Setup Permissions"
      • "View/Edit Portal Settings," that gives users access to view and edit the new Portal Tab on Institution Setup.
    • Under Permissions → "Institutions" → "Institution Permissions" → "Institution Setup Permissions"
      • "Access Publish Portal Configurations.," that gives users access to the "Publish Portal Configurations" button on the Portal tab of Institution Setup.
  • Attachment files from a production environment are not copied to a QA environment – neither Document setup attachments nor Document Requirement attachments. Therefore, these attachments will not be available to a student to download in the Student Experience QA instance. New attachments will need to be added to the QA Regent Award instance in order for the Student Experience QA instance to access them.

Known Issues

Configuration

While beta testing, if you should encounter any issues when altering configuration, please be sure to include information regarding the specific configuration field you were editing at the time, it will help us to diagnose the issue.

Publish Portal Configuration:

In some instances, after clicking the "Publish Portal Configuration" button, the screen greys out and then "hangs" and after several minutes, presents the user with a "Request Failed" message.  However, wait a few minutes (not more than 10) and check the Student Experience portal for your configuration change.  It is very likely that your configuration change did, in fact, publish.  We are working to correct the "Request Failed" message for StudentX Beta II.

Text Editors:

Text Editors are available throughout configuration for customizing messaging throughout the Student Experience portal.  The editor allows the user to apply formatting to the text, and provide HTML to manipulate the display.  There is no character limit.  The   The best practice for using this editor is to type your text directly into the editor, and then format it using the tools provided.  Or, type the text into Notepad, and then copy and paste the text into the editor.  If you copy the text from another editor, you may find that the formatting is copied from the editor and displays in an unexpected manner.

General Setup:  Footer Display adds additional line breaks when hyperlinks are in use.

Account Mgt Setup: The student is prompted to provide their "Location" (Campus) during the account registration process when Configuration is set to not use this attribute.

"Campus" is turned "off" on Acct Mgt setup:

Acct Reg Step 3 is prompting the user to provide their "Location" (Campus):

Useful Links Setup: Cannot place the cursor in the URL Description field with your mouse; The user must click into the field and use the arrow keys to move the cursor to the location where edits need to be made.

Financial Aid Component

Funds in an "Offered" status appear under the "Total Accepted Net Costs" heading of COA.

The Student Experience Financial Aid Portal will allow a student to Accept Unsubsidized Loan funds prior to fully Accepting Subsidized Loan Funds.

The "Decline the Full Gross Amount Available" award action shows $0.00 instead of the full gross award amount.

The Resource Amount shown in COA is not the correct amount.

Net Costs heading is displayed twice.

Message Center Component

"Reply" is not functioning consistently on messages sent from Regent Award to the Student.  Sometimes, the error "Something went wrong" is displayed.  Also, the "New Messages" badge icon is not updating as messages move from unread to read, and sent messages are being marked as unread messages.
