  1. DEX is an integral part of the Regent software that works behind the scenes to do most of the data processing for input and output to and from the Regent system. Files like ISIRs, COD, and SBL files are loaded through DEX into the Regent database. In some cases, DEX will output files to certain directories, taking the data from the Regent DB, and converting it to an export file to be loaded into student systems, or sent back to the Department of Education, as in COD export.
  2. RNA is a standalone engine which utilizes information reported by the student on an application for student aid to calculate an EFC. RNA generates the student's academic plan based on a combination of criteria such as the type of school, program, demographic info, and enrollment status. RNA then determines an applicant's need for federal and other sources of assistance by subtracting the EFC from the student's COA.  RNA then uses eligibility rules to create a package of awards for the student.
  3. REM is a web-based User Interface for Financial Aid Management, System Setup, Security, Reporting and other user processes.
