Components of the System

Regent is comprised of three main internal components.

  1. Regent Education Management (REM) is the web-based User Interface (UI) for Financial Aid Management, System Setup, Security, Reporting, and other user processes.
  2. Data Exchange (DEX) is the platform that sends and receives data, to and from the Regent system. Files like ISIRs, COD, and SBL files are loaded through DEX into Regent databases. In some cases, DEX will output files to directories, taking the data from the Regent DB and converting it to an export file to be loaded into Student Information Systems or sent back to the U.S. Department of Education, as in COD export.
  3. Regent Needs Analysis (RNA) is the processing engine that generates the student's academic plan/package of awards based on a combination of cost, need, and financial aid eligibility criteria, as configured by the school.
